Both partners need to attend for complete evaluation and treatment. If unable to do so, phone consultations are available at request. Please note that phone consultations do not attract Medicare rebate as per current Medicare regulations.
Occasional delays due to unavoidable circumstances may occur, however Dr Karia’s practice will make every attempt to notify you prior to your appointment (as far as possible) about any such foreseeable circumstances.
Dr Karia will make every attempt to avoid phone calls during consultations (medical emergencies excepted)
Appointments will be scheduled for 1 hour for a new consultation and 40 minutes for follow up consultation to ensure enough time for clarification of all relevant issues.
A letter of referral addressed to Dr Karia is required from your GP (valid for 1 year) or treating specialist (valid for 3 months) to enable you to claim a part of your consultation cost from Medicare if you are eligible. The referral letter must state the name of each attendee and must be dated the day of or prior to consultation.
It is important to ensure that your referral status is current at all times during the course of your treatment with Dr Karia
For subsequent consultations, please feel free to get advice from Dr Karia’s secretary regarding your referral status.
Kindly bring results that may be available from investigations done in the past, or request your GP/specialist to fax them to Dr Karia on (02) 87343399.
Your GP/specialist may need a written consent from you for release of this information.
Results for investigations ordered by Dr Karia will usually be discussed at the subsequent consultation rather than by phone (except in situations of emergency or urgent results requiring immediate action)
Dr Karia will not be available to perform treatment during times of annual leave or conference attendance. The secretary/Genea nurses will provide you with information regarding these periods and the covering doctor.
All payments need to be made at the time of the consultation. You can choose one from the following options: cash, cheque, EFPTOS or credit card (American express excluded), EFT (a/c details can be advised in this case)
Receipts will be issued at the time of payment processing.
